Welcome to Bailey Lake

Dear Bailey Lake Families,

I am honored to serve as the new principal of Bailey Lake Elementary in the fall. Not only do I live in the community, but my children, Jack (5th grade) and Julia (4th grade), attend Clarkston Elementary, and my wife, Katie, serves as a Supervisor of Student Support Services here in the district. With all that said, it is no surprise that I’m deeply invested and excited to be part of the amazing work happening at BLE. I bring with me two decades of experience in education, beginning as a history teacher and coach at CJH (2005–2011), followed by a role as a behavior interventionist (2011–2014), and most recently, as assistant principal at Clarkston High School since 2014. I also had the privilege of serving as interim principal at North Sashabaw Elementary in the spring of 2023.

I grew up in Yale, Michigan, home of the Bulldogs, so I already feel a special connection to the BLE mascot. I’m a proud graduate of Alma College and earned my master’s degree from Michigan State University. Outside of school, our family enjoys boating, swimming, skiing, and spending time “Up North.” You may also spot me on the sidelines coaching or cheering at local youth sports events, especially when Jack and Julia are playing. Being active in the community is something I truly value, and I look forward to connecting with many of you in and out of school.

There is no doubt that I’m stepping into some big shoes with Mr. Gualtieri’s retirement. I know everyone at BLE will miss him. But I know that together we are going to thrive. We will continue to build on the strong foundation he has laid over the years.

I look forward to meeting all of you very soon.

Sincerely,

Josh Lamay, Principal
